Provided to Government on 30 June 2019 and released to the public on 26 July 2019.

It contains 23 recommendations. See recommendations page for details.

In a press release accompanying the release of the report, Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg MP, stated that the Government

accepts the ACCC’s overriding conclusion that there is a need for reform - to better protect consumers, improve transparency, recognise power imbalances and ensure that substantial market power is not used to lessen competition in media and advertising services markets

and further that the Government 'accepts that there is a need to develop a harmonised media regulatory framework'.

Before a detailed Government response is provided a further consultation process will take place. It will run for 12 weeks, after which the Government intends to release its response (by the end of 2019). That consulation has not yet been launched.
